Job Description

Automation Engineer

We are looking for an Automation Engineer for our client's Cloud Engineering team. We are looking for a highly skilled and proficient Automation Engineer. The Automation Engineer conducts complex work important to the organization. Works under minimal supervision with wide latitude for independent judgment.

Responsibilities

• Write and translate PowerShell and/or Python scripts

• Invoke and utilized modules for a variety of scripting languages

• Utilize AWS SDKs

• Unit test a piece of code and write error conditions

• Proficient in code management and documentation

• Implement changes with minimal impact to the business by following enterprise change management procedures

• Innovate, re-define or enhance automation request to best possible solution, for positive customer return, and value add for business

• Collaborate with operations, engineering, and application teams

• Represent team, self, or project with utmost respect for audience, clear communication, cooperative attitude

Required

• 2+ years of advanced scripting with PowerShell, Python, Shell Scripting, SQL

• Strong understanding of software development and computer programming

• Understanding of virtual resources in AWS cloud

• Ability to create CloudFormation templates for StackSets

• Experience with CI/CD tools in AWS (CodePipeline, CodeDeploy)

• Experience with formal source control systems (Github/GIT)

• Understanding of Marketplace and Custom AMI Templates.

• Use of orchestration, automation, and continuous integration / continuous delivery tools

• Comfortable with virtual server, virtual SQL database, and SAN datacenter environment or concepts

• Effectively communicate in written, virtual, and face to face with various levels of peers, leaders, or upper management

• Self-driven leader who complete projects on time with little supervision and handles escalation appropriately

• Ability to extract complex technical processes into easy to understand concepts

Experience

Education

• AWS certified Solutions Architect Associate or AWS certified SysOps Administrator Associate

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Information, Computer Science and/or equivalent work experience required

Required

• 2+ years develop custom shell scripts

• 2+ year use of Regex (regular expressions)

• 1+ year implement and triage solutions with AWS cloud

• Active Directory, LDAP, understanding of DNS concepts

• SQL queries or use of SQL database for reporting

• Familiar with System Center Configuration Manager 2012 (SCCM)

Preferred

• Use of DevOps or Configuration Management tools

• Familiarity with VMware vRealize Tools (vRealize orchestrator, vSphere)

Other

• Willing and able to travel as needed for business between our Chicagoland offices or other off-site locations (up to 10%)

• Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship

• Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
